My life in Tokyo without WiFi

There is no carrier in Tokyo , not even WiFi hotspot. My iPhone is just a PDA and iPod only , not a cell phone any more. I can take pictures and notes but no way to access internet. There is no hot spot in Madonalds or other coffee shops too. I got only one access to internet in department store while acess to someone’s Macbook I cannot check my emails nor login to my facebook, looks like isolation from modern civilization.

Portrait or landscape January 3, 2009

A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. [From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia]

Landscape comprises the visible features of an area of land, including physical elements such as landforms, living elements of flora and fauna, abstract elements such as lighting and weather conditions, and human elements, for instance human activity or the built environment. In english means ‘a picture depicting scenery on land’. [From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia]

But in iPhone or iPod touch, portrait means vertical mode of view of iPhone/iPod touch screen (rectangle stand straight view) and landscape means horizontal mode of view(rectangle lie flat view). If you using original mail from iPhone/iPod Touch, you can type only at portrait mode. If you use XLmail or Easy email, you can view and type as landscape mode. The keyboard lie horizontally so that you can type much easily like that of a real keyboard(only if you have small fingers , not me).

Finally I buy the Sony Cybershot T500 October 28, 2008

Finally I decided and buy my new Sony Cybershot T500 only for its 720p MP4 video recording as the first cybershot has this properties in 2008. But on the other hand, it lacks BIONZ engine and iSCN properties. I can use the NP-BP1 battery as from T300. How about my old T300, luckily I sell to my junior colleague at half price. I am going to buy iPod Touch next month if available since I love WiFi from iTouch that you can surf the web anytime you approach a hot spot. Remember in Taipei WiFi is covered up to 90% area. The above 2 items added together is still less than a iPhone which costs about NT$25000.

Yesterday I ran to the Casio main store to test for Z1200 digital camera. The close up view up to 6cm is acceptable but for the video clip that is unacceptable because the image is blurred below 10 cm range and the format can only seen under Apple quicktime player (not common as Windows real player). Casio digital camera is famous for its small size (Exilim is well-known for card size) but Sony T series can close up (magnifying view) up to 1cm and video clip in mpeg form that everyone’s computer can watch using real palyer. My last digital camera is T11 with 2.5″LCD, 3X optical zoom and 5.0 mega pixels which bought in 2004 . Now T300 with 3.5″ LCD, 5X optical zoom and 1.0 mega pixels will make a large difference. But most important is the change of using touch screen panel instead of hard buttons. Make sure you use the finger tip muscle but not the finger nail. Of course I will attach a screen protector before use for precaution. Just make sure you don’t drop the DC from your hands and remind to wear the wrist strap everytime.
